Ford steps up WEC preparations with second test car
Ford will add a second test car to its LMDh program later this month as it prepares for entry into the World Endurance Championship Hypercar class next season. The car is being developed with ORECA Motorsport and initially began testing with a single chassis. At Monza, Ford plans two examples: one focused on mechanical performance and another on control systems, then shifts to a dedicated endurance-testing phase. Program manager Dan Sayers said early work has emphasized debugging complex hybrid control systems while avoiding significant changes to protect results. The schedule followed tests at Paul Ricard on August 5, Portimão, and Silverstone, completing about 1,300 km at each. Ford expects the car’s name to be revealed at a Thanksgiving launch later in November.
