Ford Takes A Beating In Europe
xCruzo Brief
Ford is losing ground in Europe, where it has few defenses beyond its home market. The company’s US performance has also weakened: for the first nine months of the year, sales fell 8.6% to 1,519,279 vehicles, and Toyota has passed Ford to become the second-largest brand in the US. In Europe, registrations—a key metric tracked by ACEA—rose 6.2% to 10,555,361 through the first nine months. Local groups lead, with the VW Group at 27% share, Stellantis at 15%, and Renault Group at 11%. Among non-EU brands, Hyundai leads with 7.1%, about equal to Toyota. Ford’s EU market share was under 3% in the first three quarters as unit registrations dropped 17.6% to 191,896, trailing BYD’s 206,002 registrations, up 154.4%.
