Former F1 driver Kevin Magnussen to make NASCAR debut

Magnussen will make his NASCAR Cup Series debut with Trackhouse Racing’s Project 91 at Naval Base Coronado near San Diego, a landmark crossovers initiative designed to bring elite drivers from outside NASCAR to the Cup level. The 33-year-old Dane joins a line of Project 91 entrants that includes Kimi Räikkönen, Shane van Gisbergen, and Helio Castroneves, as the program seeks to expand the field with top-tier talent. The race will use a 16-turn, 3.4-mile temporary course on an active military base in the San Diego area, a track that has yet to be run on under Cup rules.
