Freddy Peralta's career-worst outing buries Mets in brutal blowout loss to Phillies
Freddy Peralta’s career-worst start buried the Mets in a lopsided 15-3 loss to the Phillies on Saturday in Philadelphia. Peralta allowed 10 earned runs on 10 hits and one walk over 2 2/3 innings, raising his ERA to 4.83 and finishing the game early, with the Mets trailing decisively by the third inning. The defeat also came as the team’s rotation struggled, with Sean Manaea listed at 4.64 and David Peterson scheduled to pitch for Sunday’s series finale. Philadelphia’s big blast included Kyle Schwarber hitting three homers, including two in the same inning, while Bryce Harper recorded a cycle. The scoring began with Harper’s two-out homer in the first, followed by RBI doubles from J.T. Realmuto and Justin Crawford in the second. Peralta never got through the third, as more extra-base hits and RBI knocks extended the margin. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Peralta has time to improve and pointed to his ability to rebound.
