Fabio Quartararo returned to the MotoGP top ten at Assen despite pain, describing the Dutch circuit as demanding and Yamaha’s “super heavy” V4 as difficult to manage. The Monster Yamaha rider finished eighth on Sunday, his best result since Catalunya, and said the race was “long, physical, not really enjoyable.” Quartararo reported suffering arm pump, estimating the discomfort cost him several seconds but did not change the final position. He said the issue affected him for at least the last 10 laps, particularly on the right arm. The 2021 world champion attributed the recurrence to Assen’s fast, flowing layout combined with Yamaha’s characteristics. KTM’s Pedro Acosta retired due to similar right-wrist carpal tunnel problems and will undergo surgery. Yamaha teammate Alex Rins finished just behind Quartararo, securing a double top-ten result for the team.
