Hungary Notebook: Honda Readies Upgrade, Hulkenberg Breaks Through

At the Hungarian Grand Prix, Honda is preparing an awaited power-unit upgrade and Nico Hulkenberg finally scored points for Audi, while Haas continued struggling. Honda will introduce its updated engine during a filming day with Aston Martin this week, a change from the earlier plan to debut it at Zandvoort after the summer break. The team will run it for the first time on Wednesday as per Formula 1 rules allowing two filming days per season, capped at 200 km on demonstration tires. Hulkenberg made Q3 and finished ninth in Hungary, earning Audi’s third consecutive points finish. Haas placed Esteban Ocon 16th and Oliver Bearman 17th on track but dropped Bearman to 19th for ignoring blue flags.
