Hyundai Card completes its first real-world stablecoin pilot with Avalanche, Tether
Hyundai Card completes its first real-world stablecoin pilot with Avalanche and Tether, demonstrating cross-border remittance settlement using USDT on the Avalanche network. The PoC, announced Thursday, processed an actual transfer between Hyundai Motor Company’s U.S. and Mexican entities, with Hyundai Motor America converting $20,000 into USDT, sending it to Mexico, and converting it back into dollars. The transaction reportedly took about seven minutes, compared with three to four hours for traditional interbank transfers. The pilot was conducted for real intercompany settlement needs, not as a theoretical blockchain exercise. Hyundai Card led regulatory review, legal and tax checks, and control design, with Axiym also participating. A second PoC is planned later this month in Europe, including Visa and Circle’s USDC.
