Hyundai recalls over 94,000 vehicles due to fire risk, warns owners to 'park outside'
xCruzo Brief
Hyundai is recalling more than 94,000 Genesis vehicles over a potential fire risk linked to a power seat control switch. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says the switch in some Genesis models may get stuck, allowing the motor to overheat and potentially start a fire. The recall covers certain 2015 and 2016 Hyundai Genesis models, as well as 2017 to 2020 Genesis G80 vehicles. Hyundai has told owners to park outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures even when the engine is off, while repairs are developed. Owners will be notified by mail around Dec. 1. The company is aware of two fire incidents but reports no crashes or injuries tied to the defect.
