Identities of those killed in Florida Amazon plane crash released

Florida authorities released the identities of five people killed in a crash involving an Amazon cargo plane at Miami International Airport. The incident occurred Sept. 6 when Amazon flight 7598 overshot the airport’s diagonal runway, hitting two vehicles and also injuring five others. Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said the pilot and co-pilot were released from the hospital, while three other victims remained hospitalized. The deceased were all employees of an aircraft cleaning service company: Rolando Aleman Leon (55), Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo (53), Julio C. Pineda (75), Carlos Acosta Fajardo (53), and Javierkys Reyes Quevedo (47). Two people in a van were hospitalized—Ridoel Averhoff Diaz (critical) and Roosevelt Sebastian Perdomo Torres (stable)—and Eugenio Corredor (79) remained in critical condition after being hurt in a Toyota SUV. The NTSB is investigating and has recovered the plane’s black boxes.
