Ilia Malinin, figure skating's Quad God who's human after all, is ready to jump back in

Ilia Malinin says he’s ready to return to elite competition after a period of uncertainty following major setbacks. He loved the Stars on Ice tour after the Winter Games, where he performed four consecutive backflips and enjoyed the freedom of shows without judges’ scrutiny. Malinin, known as the “Quad God,” had not been sure when he would compete again, especially after one of the sport’s most brutal collapses at the Winter Olympics. Six weeks later, he appeared in Prague and won his third consecutive World Championship, but he emphasized mental health and considered taking more time away. He returns on Nov. 13 at Skate America in Everett, Washington, to the Grand Prix circuit.
