Indiana men's soccer improves Big Ten outlook with 3-1 win over No. 22 UCLA
Indiana’s men’s soccer team strengthened its Big Ten title bid with a 3-1 win over No. 22 UCLA on Friday at Wallis Annenberg Stadium in Los Angeles. Entering the last two matches, the Hoosiers still needed two victories to claim the conference regular-season championship, and they treated the game like a knockout round. Junior midfielder Charlie Heuer opened the scoring in the 17th minute after senior forward Oliver Moller-Jensen created space on UCLA’s backline. Moller-Jensen added the next goal, including a 32nd-minute strike from a penalty won by drawing a tackle from UCLA freshman goalkeeper Tristan Shaw, then scored again in the 72nd minute after a turnover and a chip over Shaw inside the 18-yard box. The win put Indiana at 6-1-2 in Big Ten play, tied with Washington for best in the league. Indiana still controls its destiny for the regular-season finale against Michigan State on Nov. 4.
