Jaguar reveals a $130,000 all-electric vehicle. Why?

Jaguar officially unveiled the Type 01, its first all-electric model in nearly a decade, at a darkly lit event in a Manhattan warehouse. The $130,000 sedan was shown in a video sprinting through New York in a “Tron”-style reel, then Jaguar Managing Director Rawdon Glover said, “Jaguar is back.” Revealed as a concept in 2024, the 104-year-old brand calls the Type 01 its “most aerodynamic Jaguar ever.” It drives up to 450 miles per charge and can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in three seconds. Key design cues—including the leaping hood ornament and round headlights—are gone.
