Jaguar Type 01: What really happened when the wraps came off?

Jaguar unveiled the production Type 01 in Chelsea, New York, at an event held in a former taxi depot that has also been home and studio to photographer Annie Leibovitz. Around 400 attendees gathered near a display featuring the car’s “impossible panel” and a full-size silhouette, before the Type 01 was revealed via a video presentation at 8:03pm. Jaguar managing director Rawdon Glover appeared as smoke cleared to reveal the vehicle. The article says the launch-spec Type 01 matches the clay model’s paint color from Jaguar’s Gaydon studio more than four years earlier and will reach roads “mid-next year.” Design details include 23-inch wheels and a roofline under 1,400mm, with a four-seat interior.
