Joan Mir lauds Honda's "smart move" as he tries out its 2027 MotoGP package at Brno test
Joan Mir lauds Honda's "smart move" as he tries out its 2027 MotoGP package at Brno test highlights Honda’s decision to let current factory riders shape its upcoming platform. Speaking over the Czech Grand Prix weekend, Joan Mir said it is a “smart move” for Honda to allow him and Luca Marini—both departing to rival teams next year—to test the 2027 motorcycle and Pirelli tyres at Brno. Mir noted he has worked with the current bike for four years, developing it to become the best Honda of recent seasons, while acknowledging it has not reached all his goals. He emphasized that experienced riders can provide more useful tyre development input for Pirelli and help ensure tyres arrive prepared for 2027. Mir also said he is not convinced that riders who are barred from early tests will face a disadvantage, citing how quickly riders adapt today. Media access is limited for the test, and veteran Jack Miller is not participating.
