Jorge Martin concedes 2026 MotoGP title is "already lost" after Malaysian GP withdrawal
Jorge Martin admitted his chances of winning the 2026 MotoGP title are effectively gone after withdrawing from the Malaysian Grand Prix, though he said he will keep fighting through the end of the season. The factory Aprilia rider attempted to race at Sepang a week after breaking his right wrist in the Phillip Island sprint, but was forced to pull out just before qualifying. Entering Malaysia, Martin was second in the standings behind Marc Marquez by 10 points, and was set to face further gaps across the two points-paying races remaining at Sepang. With only three rounds left after Malaysia, he said, “for me it’s already lost.” He aims to be fit for next week’s Qatar GP, explaining pain and a lack of strength to stay consistent. He also withdrew to avoid worsening the injury and risking a bigger setback.
