Kia converts its electric van into an off-grid mobile simulator rig with a 55" screen
Kia converts its electric van into an off-grid mobile simulator rig with a 55" screen focuses on a new conversion of the Kia PV5 Cargo for motorsport entertainment and charity fundraising. Kia says it transformed the electric van into an off-grid racing simulator complete with gaming seats and a 55-inch screen, using the PV5’s vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability as a mobile power source. During initial testing, Kia reported the van used just 1% of its charge for every two hours of simulation. The converted vehicle will be loaned by Midlands-based Brindley Kia to CX Auto Group for five weeks through Kia Rental ahead of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which runs July 9 to July 12, 2026. The simulator will support Men And Their Emotions (M.A.T.E), with creators and racing drivers competing for the fastest lap. Kia also lists the standard PV5 Cargo battery options—51.5 kWh and 71.2 kWh—rated at WLTP ranges of 184 and 258 miles.
