Kia Is 'Greatly Dissatisfied' With The Lack Of Driver's Cars
Kia Australia’s chief ride and handling engineer Graeme Gambold says the company is “greatly dissatisfied” with how automakers have shifted away from drivers who want to enjoy driving. Speaking to carsales magazine, he criticized the industry’s focus on tech while making it harder to find cars that are genuinely fun, and also complained about intrusive safety systems. In his view, it’s increasingly difficult to get the features people want without unwanted electronic interventions. Kia, however, hasn’t abandoned the idea of fun-to-drive vehicles, citing the EV6 GT and the discontinued Stinger as examples. The engineer argued the industry needs more affordable, engaging models, potentially with hybrid or fully electric drivetrains as emissions rules tighten.
