Kia launches new recall for 463,000 Telluride SUVs due to fire risk, urges owners to park outside
Kia has issued a new recall affecting 462,869 Telluride SUVs from the 2020–2024 model years over a fire risk, urging owners to park outside and away from structures until repairs are completed. The action, announced this week by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, replaces a prior recall launched in 2024 after customers reported fires following earlier fixes. The NHTSA warns that the front power seat motor may overheat because a stuck slide knob can cause overheating, leading to a fire while parked or driven. Kia’s remedy will have dealers install a free electronic fuse assembly, and it is expected to be available in early August, with owner letters mailed starting Aug. 13. Between October 2024 and April 2026, Kia’s safety office identified 18 incidents involving localized seat fires or seat-motor melting; no injuries or crashes were reported.
