Kuwait facing drones and missiles, sirens sound in Bahrain
Kuwait facing drones and missiles, sirens sound in Bahrain reports heightened regional security amid U.S.-Iran tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. said it carried out retaliatory airstrikes after Iranian attacks on commercial vessels. U.S. Central Command stated forces hit more than 80 targets overnight as an “immediate response” to attacks on three commercial vessels transiting the strait. CENTCOM said strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities, and more than 60 IRGC small boats near or in the waterway to degrade Iran’s ability to attack international commerce. CENTCOM characterized the actions as “offensive strikes,” unlike last month’s “self-defense” strikes, and accused Iran’s tanker targeting of “unwarranted aggression” and a ceasefire violation. The statement said U.S. forces remain ready to hold Iran accountable when the agreement is not followed.
