Layne Riggs Tops NASCAR Truck Series Practice at Charlotte

Layne Riggs topped practice Friday for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series’ Ecosave 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, posting a lap of 30.132 seconds (179.211 mph) in his No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford F-150. He was 0.239 seconds faster than Connor Mosack, with Corey LaJoie third. Riggs, who trails in the championship standings behind Kaden Honeycutt’s No. 11 truck, said the team made significant balance changes to handle Charlotte’s bumps, calling the track especially sensitive. During the 50-minute session, Riggs worked from setup notes from the spring race and used simulator preparation with crew chief Dylan Cappello. Honeycutt qualified 15th in practice.
