Leeds driver denies 90mph race before mum and child killed

A Leeds driver accused in a fatal crash involving a mother and her four-year-old daughter has denied that the vehicles were racing. Justyna Hulboj, 27, and Lena Czepczor, 4, were killed after being struck by an Audi TT RS on Scott Hall Road on January 16, 2023. Prosecutors heard that Jasskamal Riyat, 37, was driving a BMW 1 Series closely behind the Audi and had filmed the 560hp Audi on his phone because he “liked the sound of the souped up engine.” Riyat denies causing death by dangerous driving. The Audi driver, Hardeep Bachu, previously pleaded guilty to the same charge. The court also heard Riyat said he didn’t notice the modified Audi despite it moving lanes at the last minute.
