Lucid Is Testing 100 Robotaxis With Uber and Nuro While Executing a $1.4 Billion Cash Overhaul. Here's Whether It's Enough to Turn the Stock Around.
Lucid Group announced an “operational reset” on Aug. 4 during an investor call, signaling a renewed focus on executing “four must-win projects.” The company is dealing with persistent losses and a weakened stock performance. Lucid’s market cap is around $2.5 billion, versus peers like Rivian and Tesla, and it reported a $1.03 billion loss on $405 million in revenue. While it ended the quarter with $3 billion in total liquidity, cash and cash equivalents were $733 million versus $1.86 billion expected by analysts. Lucid also plans a $1.4 billion plan to shore up cash flow, including inventory liquidation and reductions in capex and operating expenses. The other priorities include ramping robotaxis, completing a manufacturing plant in Saudi Arabia, and launching more mid-sized vehicles at lower prices.
