Chicago police placed a man in custody after he took a United States Postal Service truck for a joyride in the South Loop on Saturday night. The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. in the 1100 block of South State Street. Police said a USPS worker had stepped out of the truck to deliver mail when the suspect jumped in and drove away. After the worker reported the theft, officers spotted the stolen truck and tried to pull it over. The vehicle fled and sideswiped another car in traffic, police added. No injuries were reported.
