Man charged after 9-year-old injured in Southaven hit-and-run

A 9-year-old was struck while riding a minibike near Chesterfield Drive and Farmington N in Southaven on May 16, shortly before 3 p.m., according to police. The driver left the scene and continued south on Chesterfield Drive, authorities said. Frank Burks, 34, was arrested Thursday after investigators linked him to the case. He faces charges related to leaving the scene of a crash that caused injuries. Investigators described the suspect vehicle as a black Mercedes, believed to be an S550 model.
