A Tesla owner says he’s warning drivers not to rely on Smart Summon after his car scraped a parked vehicle. Posting under the handle Mr. Wang (@iamxw99), he shared photos showing his Tesla positioned awkwardly in a parking lot and, later, visible damage to the rear driver-side door and nearby paint transfer affecting the Mitsubishi SUV next to it. He said the incident involved a 2020 Model X using Smart Summon with a clear line of sight and a stationary neighboring car, yet contact still occurred. Wang says he was watching and stopped Summon immediately after seeing contact, but damage to both vehicles was already done. He filed an insurance claim, opened a Tesla case, and submitted an NHTSA safety complaint citing more similar reports, including over 100 in the U.S.
