Marquez and Ducati need to bounce back in the champion's backyard

Marc Marquez lost ground in the MotoGP title fight at the British Grand Prix and now has a quick chance to respond at a race at home. At Silverstone, he was on course for provisional pole halfway through Q2 but had to lift during his second qualifying attempt, leading to a tough weekend. Tyre degradation hurt him in the Sprint, dropping him to ninth, and although he started well on Sunday and briefly ran third, he finished seventh. Jorge Martin won the Sprint and then placed second behind Raul Fernandez in the race, expanding Marquez’s deficit from 18 points entering last weekend to 40 points. The next opportunity is the Aragon Grand Prix, where Marquez has won eight MotoGP races and once in Moto2. Since joining Ducati, he’s been perfect at MotorLand Aragon, winning both Sprint and Grand Prix over the past two seasons.
