Martin wins Austrian MotoGP sprint after Acosta crash
xCruzo Brief
Jorge Martin won Saturday’s Austrian MotoGP sprint to retake the championship lead after Pedro Acosta crashed out with victory in sight. Starting from pole after edging Marc Marquez by the qualifying margin, Martin looked set to control the race, but Acosta swept past the title rivals on the opening lap. The KTM rider seemed on track for a second sprint win, then ran wide into gravel with less than four laps remaining, dropping the order and ultimately retiring. Martin capitalized as Acosta moved three points clear of Marquez in the standings. Marquez finished second, ahead of Marco Bezzecchi. Ai Ogura was fourth. Martin also won a third pole with a 0.015-second edge.
