McLaren to sell five F1 cars, all driven by champions and one by Brad Pitt
xCruzo Brief
McLaren will sell five fully functioning Formula 1 cars—each driven by champions—and one has been tested by actor Brad Pitt. The cars will be marketed by high-end dealer Tom Hartley Jr, with McLaren expecting the sale to raise “tens of millions of dollars.” In a statement dated Oct. 18, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown said keeping the cars in storage would be a disservice because they were built to be raced. The lineup spans 32 years: two 1991-era MP4/6A cars (chassis 04 and 07) tested or raced by Gerhard Berger and Ayrton Senna; a 2012 MP4/27A tested by Lewis Hamilton and raced by Jenson Button; 2021 and 2023 Norris cars; and the 2023 MCL37A-03 tested by Pitt at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas, reportedly reaching 317 km/h.
