Mercedes withdraws request to review F1 Monaco GP result

Mercedes has withdrawn its bid to review the Monaco Grand Prix result and George Russell's penalties. A virtual hearing had been scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, but the FIA stewards were informed Thursday of Mercedes' withdrawal. The team argued Russell lost a potential podium due to a pit-lane speeding penalty they viewed as incorrectly applied, and pointed to a later drive-through that they felt was unfair. The stewards noted Formula One Management's measurement error but said they cannot undo penalties already served. With Mercedes exiting the review, McLaren and Red Bull have appealed to the FIA International Court of Appeal in Paris, date pending.
