Miami Gardens Police searching for missing K-9 that was struck by car

Miami Gardens Police are searching for a missing K-9 named Gael that was struck by a vehicle after officers responded to a business alarm near Northwest 195th Street at about 9:35 p.m. Monday. Police said Gael was released from a vehicle, immediately ran eastbound across Northwest 2nd Avenue, and didn’t respond to an officer’s recall attempt. Officers conducted an extensive search but could not locate him. Surveillance footage later showed Gael was hit and continued moving eastbound despite the collision. Officers are canvassing the area and searching for the 2.5-year-old dog, described as 55–65 pounds with beige hair and brown eyes. He wore a collar reading “Mama says I’m special.”
