Missouri Businesswoman and Single Mom Killed After Police SUV Crashes Into Her Audi

Misty Leslie, 48, a Missouri businesswoman and mother, died after a Independence Police Department SUV crashed into her 2022 Audi SQ5 early Oct. 11 near Kansas City. The fatal collision happened shortly after 1 a.m. at an intersection while an officer was driving a 2024 Ford Explorer west on U.S. Highway 24 with emergency lights and siren operating. Police said preliminary evidence suggests the officer had a green light while Leslie faced a red light. Both were belted. Leslie was taken to a hospital, where she later died; the officer was also hospitalized with non-serious injuries.
