More than 40 knives recovered as car stopped on M6

Two people were arrested after police stopped a red Volkswagen Polo on the M6 and found more than 40 zombie knives and other bladed weapons. The stop occurred at 23:40 BST on 28 May at junction 17 near Sandbach, Cheshire. A 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman from the Birmingham area were detained on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons. The man has been eliminated from inquiries, while the woman was released on conditional bail. Chief Inspector Joe McNally described the discovery as alarming and noted that Operation Sceptre has recovered over 250 weapons in Cheshire. The blades will be destroyed to prevent their use.
