Jorge Martin took an unexpected Austrian Grand Prix sprint win after Pedro Acosta crashed out with three laps remaining at the Red Bull Ring. Acosta had seized the lead on the opening lap by capitalising on an early battle between Martin and Marc Marquez, building an advantage of nearly three seconds. But the 22-year-old dumped his KTM at Turn 2 on lap 12 of 14, gifting Martin—who finished the first lap eighth—control of the race. The contest swung again when Marquez overtook at Turn 2, while Acosta later regained the front before his mistake. Martin won by one full second, reclaiming the championship lead by three points over Marquez. Bezzecchi completed the podium.
