Marc Marquez won the MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix Sprint, moving closer to title rival Jorge Martin in the riders’ standings. Riding an Aprilia, Marquez finished third overall on Saturday’s Sprint, while cutting Martin’s advantage. The Sprint started with chaos: Pedro Acosta, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Alex Marquez crashed at Turn 3 on the opening lap. Stewards will investigate the incident after the Sprint, with Acosta’s KTM struck in the sequence that began with Gresini’s Pedro. Marquez grabbed the lead from Martin at Turn 2 after Martin’s strong start from the second grid slot, then pulled away.
