MotoGP title fight heats up: Four riders chasing Marc Marquez's crown

With the MotoGP season at its halfway point, five riders remain in the title fight ahead of the British Grand Prix, according to GPblog. Marc Marquez, the defending champion, had to miss the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya weekend after a crash at Le Mans, and was at one stage 102 points behind the leader. Since returning, he has won two Sprints and three Grands Prix at Balaton Park, Brno and the Sachsenring, and now trails Jorge Martin by 18 points. Martin leads the standings and has been the most consistent, including a flawless Le Mans weekend and a standout COTA Sprint that ended with a crash during a wheelie. Marco Bezzecchi started the season strongly but suffered penalties and injury after incidents at the Czech Grand Prix and Assen, with surgery after another crash in Germany. Ai Ogura took his first MotoGP win at the Dutch GP and finished second at the German GP behind Marquez. Fabio Di Giannantonio is Ducati’s most consistent rider, winning the Catalan GP and finishing in the top six in all but two races.
