Motorcyclist dies after crashing into pole in Jacksonville

A motorcyclist died after crashing into a concrete pole on Jacksonville’s Southside early Monday, June 22, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The crash occurred around 1:45 a.m. in the 5500 block of Shad Road near Florida Mining Blvd., where two riders were traveling eastbound. The JSO said one motorcyclist lost control and struck a concrete pole on the south side of the intersection. Jacksonville Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the rider, described as a white male in his late 20s, dead at the scene. The incident marked the 12th traffic fatality involving a motorcycle in Duval County this year. JSO also reported it was the 94th overall traffic fatality in the county for 2024.
