NASCAR: Denny Hamlin, Carson Hocevar Sonoma Incident Breakdown
NASCAR’s Sonoma incident has sparked debate after contact between Carson Hocevar and Denny Hamlin last Sunday during the Cup Series race. With nine laps remaining in the final stage, Hamlin was running seventh when he entered the fourth corner area. Hocevar’s No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet made slight contact into the back bumper of Hamlin’s No. 11, sending Hamlin into a spin and out of the top 30. Hamlin recovered to finish 26th, but he still moved into the Cup Series points lead by one point over Tyler Reddick. Hocevar later told motorsports insider Jeff Gluck that he believed he was hit before the contact with Hamlin. Meanwhile, Steven Taranto highlighted onboard footage suggesting contact involving Brad Keselowski pushed Hocevar forward toward Hamlin.
