A new entrance road to Tesco’s car park in Wokingham will open to vehicles via Finchampstead Road, connecting directly to the South Wokingham Distributor Road through a new roundabout. The existing entrance road will stay available for pedestrians, and new pedestrian facilities will run along the updated route. Officials also expect the changes to allow a future link to Footpath 25, which runs between Finchampstead Road and Ludgrove Drive. The works are tied to development connected with the new distributor road. Online questions have focused on capacity and traffic during construction, with Rob McDonald describing the previous access and exiting as extremely difficult and delayed. The borough says the roundabout’s fourth arm will eventually serve access to new homes.
