General Motors is publishing full horsepower details for new small-block V8 engines arriving on the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. The 6.6-liter V8 is rated at up to 481 hp and 501 lb-ft of torque with no power adders, positioning it as the most powerful V8 in its class. Across GM’s half-ton lineup, the updated 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder makes 350 hp and 455 lb-ft, while the 3.0-liter Duramax diesel remains at 305 hp and 495 lb-ft. GM’s smaller 5.7-liter L76 V8 claims 402 hp and 428 lb-ft, beating Ford’s 5.0-liter Coyote and Ram’s 5.7-liter Hemi on horsepower.
