New Renault E-Space concept hints at future MPV revival
Renault has unveiled the electric E-Space concept, previewing what it calls a future MPV aimed at challenging the dominance of family SUVs. The name recalls the original Espace launched in 1984, which popularized the people-carrier format until the model line shifted in 2023 into a stretched version of the Austral SUV. The concept borrows retro cues, including a heavily raked windshield reminiscent of France’s TGV trains and a rear spoiler that echoes roof-bar styling from earlier Espace generations. Inside, it seats six across three rows, with features such as fold-flat second-row seats and tables, plus an OpenR Panorama screen spanning the full dashboard width. It uses a steer-by-wire yoke instead of a conventional steering wheel, and targets production on a new EV platform with an 800V fast-charging system.
