Driver dies after crashing into tanker truck in Tuscarawas County

A fatal crash in Tuscarawas County resulted when a Nissan Rogue failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a tanker trailer. The incident occurred at the SR-93 and US-250 intersection in Franklin Township around 11:42 p.m. The 2008 Rogue was traveling south on SR-93, while a 2021 Peterbilt pulling a tanker was northwestbound on US-250. The Nissan driver, 53-year-old Jeffrey A. Knerr of Canton, died at the scene and was not wearing a seatbelt; impairment is suspected. The Peterbilt driver, a 39-year-old Newcomerstown woman, wore her seatbelt and was uninjured. OSHP and the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
