Lexus reinvents its longtime ES sedan as a surprisingly affordable EV aimed at Tesla

Lexus is overhauling the ES for its eighth generation, introducing a fully electric version that aims to offer a premium alternative to Tesla Model 3. The ES EV expands in size as Lexus reshapes its sedan lineup, with the LS bowing out after a limited Heritage Edition run in 2026. It marks a key shift as Lexus pivots away from the internal combustion ES toward electrified luxury.

Both variants use a 67 kWh battery with a 272-307 mile range and DC fast charging up to 150 kW. The ES350e starts at $48,895 and the ES500e ranges from $51,895 to $60,295. The ES EV adds rear-seat space thanks to a 3.1-inch longer wheelbase.
