Norway's Solbakken faces wing conundrum ahead of England World Cup clash
Norway's Solbakken faces wing conundrum ahead of England World Cup clash as coach Stale Solbakken weighs whether to change his wide attacking pair after Norway reached the quarter-finals. Solbakken started Antonio Nusa and Alexander Sorloth on the wings in four of Norway’s five World Cup matches, but substitute Andreas Schjelderup and Oskar Bobb made a strong case during the 2-1 last-16 win over Brazil. In that match, Nusa and Sorloth produced little in the first half and were replaced at halftime, with Schjelderup later setting up Erling Haaland for the opening goal and posting his third assist of the tournament. Solbakken said the team needed different types of players for the Brazil game. He also expects wingers to contribute to defense and to support Haaland’s press, while Sorloth and Nusa reacted differently to being replaced. The quarter-final vs England is scheduled for Saturday.
