Norway test finds Kia EV5 gets the job done, but its range may not be great for highway road trips
Norway test finds Kia EV5 gets the job done, but its range may not be great for highway road trips reports real-world evaluation results for the Kia EV5 Long Range FWD. Independent EV tester Bjørn Nyland drove the boxy SUV in Norway at 12–14°C, completing the road-range assessment at cruise speeds. The article says efficiency dropped at 75 mph (120 km/h) in cooler weather, with energy use rising to about 401 watt-hours per mile (249 watt-hours per kilometer), roughly a 40% increase. During the full-range test at a 2.5% state of charge, the EV5 reached 201 miles (323 km). At lower speeds, it achieved 261 miles (420 km) in the conditions described. Nyland also praised practicality, citing 15.1 ft (4.6 m) of length and ample passenger/cargo room. He called the EV5 “low tech” versus some rivals like Zeekr and Tesla, and suggested buyers must match range expectations to driving habits and temperatures.
