Owners of recalled Kia vehicles are told to park outside over fire risk, even when car is off
Owners of more than 48,000 recalled Kia vehicles in Canada are being told to park outdoors even when the SUV is turned off, as the potential fire hazard may remain after shutdown. Transport Canada’s recall covers all-wheel-drive Seltos models from the 2024, 2025 and 2026 model years. The agency said a 4WD control unit under the driver’s seat may become contaminated by a mixture of salt and moisture inside the vehicle, which can lead to corrosion over time and potentially cause a short circuit. Until dealers complete the repair, owners are instructed to keep vehicles away from buildings and other cars, including driveways and garages. Kia will mail owner notices for dealer inspections; technicians may replace components and install a protective cover.
