Powys man who hit speeds of 90mph in police chase with children in car jailed

A man from Powys, Harvey Percival, has been jailed for a high-speed police chase that put two children at risk while they were in the vehicle. The court heard Percival reached speeds of 90 mph during a daytime pursuit along the A470 from Llyswen, which ended after he crashed into another car in Builth Wells. He then attempted to flee on foot and was later found by police. Percival, 23, of The Rise in Llandrindod Wells, was sentenced to two years and two months at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Tuesday, June 23, after pleading guilty at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court last month to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance. He also admitted two counts of child cruelty due to the children in the back seat.
