Red Wings Star Projected to get $14 Million AAV Contract Offer

Alex DeBrincat’s next contract with the Detroit Red Wings could average $14 million AAV, according to projection from The Athletic’s Max Bultman. DeBrincat is in the final season of a four-year, $31.5 million deal ($7.87 million AAV) after leading Detroit with 41 goals and 85 points a year ago. Bultman tied the $14 million figure to recent contract levels for Kirill Marchenko ($12.5 million AAV with Toronto) and Cutter Gauthier ($13.5 million AAV with Anaheim). While Detroit is expected to retain him, the team’s wait could strengthen DeBrincat’s leverage, as Dylan Larkin and Simon Edvinsson remain unresolved, and interim GM Shawn Horcoff must juggle priorities quickly.
