Remembering the Tragedy of 9/11 Amid the Flowers of Orange County

Hundreds gathered at the Orange County Arboretum in Montgomery, N.Y., on Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. for the annual remembrance of the 9/11 attacks and the War on Terror. The ceremony featured readings of the names of 44 Orange County residents who died in the attacks, along with 15 service members killed since, with each person’s preferences and a bell rung in their honor. The Ancient Order of Hibernians Pipe Band Div. 1 led the procession as “America the Beautiful,” the Pledge of Allegiance, and the national anthem were performed. County Executive Steve Neuhaus and Rev. John Heidgerd reflected on loss and rescue efforts.
