Renault 4 Plein Sud: Should you spec this SUV as a 'convertible'?

Renault is rolling out the 4 Plein Sud in the UK, a canvas-topped version of the Renault 4 that positions itself as a “convertible SUV” in a market with very few affordable alternatives. Early customer deliveries are now underway. The Plein Sud is largely identical to the standard R4, with extra headroom and a control panel added to the roof, plus a 92cm-long panel that rolls back above the boot. The roof opens at up to 56mph and takes about 10 seconds, with the switch held throughout. A mesh wind deflector improves low-speed comfort, though it can catch debris.
