Renault partners with Thales to develop military vehicle in new defence project

Renault is expanding into defence by partnering with Thales to develop a military vehicle, reflecting Europe’s push to bolster rearmament amid geopolitical shifts. The project blends Renault’s industrial know-how with Thales’s secure communications technology to produce a hybrid 4x4 capable of reconnaissance, troop coordination, sensitive-site surveillance and drone deployment. It will feature a Vehicle-to-Load function to power field equipment and is intended for rapid, cost-efficient production. The prototype, dubbed 4 TROOP, will be unveiled at the Eurosatory defence fair near Paris, signaling a concrete step from concept to demonstration within Europe’s defence ecosystem.
